After
50 years of development, Kim Dong have collaborated with many
organisations in a number of cultural programs, especially those
focus on children.
Co-operation programs with
ACCU:
In
1991, ACCU and KDPH co-organised a trainning program in Hanoi
which aimed at producing and publishing books for children.In
this program, ACCU sent publication experts from Japan and Thailand
to Vietnam to introduce a new way of creating books for children.
For many years, Kim Dong were an active member of many cultural
exchange program orgnanised by ACCU such as introducing and distributing
books from Asian Co-operation program to libraries throughout
Vietnam, encourage artist and illustrators to join the Norma Concours
organised annually.
In March, 2005, ACCU was first initiated the idea of building
a copyright handbook for all country member in Asian region and
Vietnam was selected as the first country to conduct this idea.
Together with Vietnam Copyright Office, Kim Dong Publishing house
was to co-organisers to conduct the workshop. With the financial
support from ACCU and Japan Copyright Office, 30,000 copies of
the Vietanmese edition of the Asian Copyright Handbooks were published
and distributed freely to Vietnamese individuals and organisations.
Workshop on “Discover the traditional culture in Manga
and Anime”
The year 1992 was the first year Japanese mange was introduced
to Vietnamese readers. Doraemon was the first manga character
introduced to Vietnamese children. Since then, Japanese manga
have been very successful in Vietnamese market. In 2005, Tokyo
Foundation, Japanese Embassy to Vietnam and Kim Dong co-organised
the workshop “Discover the traditional culture in Manga and Anime”.
The workshop was the place where famous Vietnamese and Japanese
writers and artist, researchers and animation producers and publishers
discussed the historical and cultural characteristics in manga
and anime, as well as exchanged experience in developing Vietnamese
comics and animation.
Working with Cultural Cooperation Centre of France
The
collaboration between Kim Dong and Cultural Cooperation Centre
of France started in 1997, when the Centre first conducted the
VALEASE program which aim at supporting and financing Vietnamese
publishers to publish French books in Vietnamese. Through this
programs, many French books were published by Kim Dong to introduce
to Vietnamese readers: Asterix, Drole de petite betes, Questions
and Responses ans 3/6… Kim Dong also join with the Centre to organise
three training course for artists and illustrators where Vietnamese
and French artist have chance to exchange experience and learn
from each other.
“Children’s Literature Supporting from 2006 to 2010”
Project with Danish government
The project is one of the cultural exchange activities between
Vietnam and Denmark government. It opens opportunities for Vietnamese
children to access newly created works that help to boost children’s
imagination and creativity. The project is jointly conducted by
Kim Dong Publishing House, Danish Writers Association and Hanoi
Writers Association.
In 2006, a series of activities were conducted: workshop to exchange
writing and illustrating experience between Vietnamese and Danish
writers and illustrators; Danish books were translated and published
in Vietnam, the arrival of “The Story Express” to many four local
provinces and City of Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho and Hanoi.
At each location, a “Club Readers” bearing the name of one of
Hans Christian Andersen fairy stories was established.
In 2006, the first writing competition was launched with the topic
“Children friendship” and call for writers and artist throughout
the country to participate in the competition. The final result
will be announce by autumn 2007.
